My Art Does Not Need Approval!

Welcome to the Movie Crammer (download) web page:
An Open Source, keyboard driven, movie viewer program for MacOS X.
Version 0.3.8 runs on Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard, PPC or Intel.

It may come as a shock but the interface is keyboard driven.
Press a key performs a function. Most of the keys are
customizable in the preference window.

Here is a jpeg showing the default preference key assignments.
You can use it as a cheat sheet.

One thing that might catch you by surprise is:
"regex for files." The default is set as: "[mM][oO][vV]"
What this means is that only files with the extension of
".mov" or ".MOV" or some variation of that will be loaded
into the decks. If you want ANY file loaded from directories
into the decks, change this to: ".*" If you want flash
videos loaded, change this to: "[fF][lL][vV]", etc.
I like to have various video files in directories
and then reserve the "mov" files that reference the
others. In a future version I plan to allow the program
to do this automatically.
Note: regex for files is disabled because of the possibility
of file corruption. Files with a ".mov" extension are not in
danger of corruption. A command line utility for creating
reference "mov" files is found here.

You can watch a Movie with different audio if you
like. Audio comes from a playlist in iTunes called
"Movie Crammer." This can be changed in the preferences.
Shoutcast streams are also supported.

Most important keys when one first starts to use:
the arrow keys move you around your file system.

Go into a directory with movies using the arrow keys
and press return. Remember hit the right arrow key
to get in the directory.

Capital letters jump you to directory or file starting with the letter.
Again you have to go into the directory with the right arrow key.
Press return to load the movies in that directory.

When first starting, you are in deck one. Press the '2' key
and your in deck 2, etc. Move to another directory with
the arrow keys, press return and you have another deck.

Load all decks and switch between them quickly pressing
the number keys; just like changing channels on a tv.
Get something like this and you will be all set.
Keep an eye out for your review mode.

The review mode works with the "keep" status of the
movies. A review mode of old will only show the kept
files. A review mode of new will only show the unkept
files. None will show all.

Kept files will remain in the deck even if you load another
directory. Space toggles the kept status of a single file.
"Unkeep" or "remove unkept" does not delete the files
on disk. It only pertains to the status in the deck.

Hit the apple or control key to toggle the data display.
Hit the option key to toggle the menu/dock display.

Last directories visited in each deck before quitting come up
when you restart the program. If viewing "mov" files, the program
remembers where you left off in the video. A command line utility
for creating reference "mov" files is found here.

Perian enables quicktime( and Movie Crammer ) to work with
lots more media files. There is also Flip4Mac WMV Player for
windows media files.

If you hit a key and you don't know how to undo it, try hitting
the escape key. This resets many settings.

All key functions are found here.

have fun!
